Useful information
What to bring?
A sleeping bag (unless you're renting a duvet bed; pillows and covers are all available), towels (unless rented), toilet gear, shoes with a rubber sole, water- and wind tight clothing. And of course: Anything you deem necessary. Please put your baggage in a bag or something of that kind. Suitcases tend to take up too much space.
The environment
All washing up and cleaning aboard the Spes Mea is done solely through biologically disposable, environment-friendly cleaning detergents. You don't need to bring any of your own! Please check www.ecover.com

How to get to the Zuiderhaven
If you're coming from a southern direction (the A7): following the N31 towards Harlingen will bring you to the Kimswerd exit. Taking this exit will bring you to a small roundabout. Go left on the roundabout, on through under the viaduct. Then take a right. You should now be driving alongside the Dyke on a road parallel to the N31. When you reach built-up area, take the first turn right (centrum); you should almost immediately reach a railroad crossing. Pass it, then go right, then left, and then left again. You should now have reached Zuiderhaven.
If coming from an eastern direction, move like this: Driving down the A31, take the turn "Harlingen-Havens". At the ferry terminal (on your right side) at Doeksen, follow the road. You will cross a bridge, take the right turn after. You will cross a second bridge, go left immediately after. You should now have reached Zuiderhaven.
Parking
After leaving your baggage on board you can park your car. Unfortunatelt Arie's "Vlie-Tier" was forced to stop his activities, but we found a solution! We now have Teun which brings u back on board with his minibus. www.waddenparkeren.nl. (€ 5,- per day). The skipper makes contact with Teun when the cars can be driven to the parking.
Public transport
Get off at the Harlingen Haven train station. Get down the stairs in the direction of the city and take a right before you reach the bridge. On this quay the ship is tied up after approximately 300 meters. For more information, please check the official Arriva website. From Harlingen Centraal to the port is about a 1,2 kilometer, or 14 minute, walk.
Chartered sailing insurance
If you feel more comfortable having certain affairs safely insured, this is entirely possible. Send me a request and I'll return you a leaflet with all the necessary information. It is possible to get insurance on all of the following: Annulments, travelling luggage, first aid, accidents, health and dental costs. Premium: 4% of the trip's fee. A supplemental insurance against storm hazards is also possible: Premium of 2.5% of the trip's fee (5% in winter). Another supplemental insurance is against group cancelling: Premium +2% of the trip's fee.
Conditions
We use the terms and conditions (in Dutch!) of the BBZ (Association of Charter Sailing and Cruising Business).
Your dog
You are allowed to bring a dog aboard, but it's important to let us know in advance. We can't be expected to end up with over a dozen dogs on board, for example. On sand banks and on the Wadden in the Wadden Sea it is illegal to let dogs run loose without a lease, and there are certain restrictions in effect on the various islands.
Shops
All shops and supermarkets are closed on Sundays. Please keep this into account when getting your groceries.
